I was asked to create an original recording to be handed to guests at Christ Community Church's annual community event: The Perfect Gift. As I prayed about what song I might choose, "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" began to grab my attention. It was a song I'd heard countless times but given little thought to. As I took a closer listen, I began to realize the song is not purely a "Christmas song" per se, but rather a song emphasizing that what Christ accomplished in coming to the world was a fulfillment of the prophetic words of old, and an ongoing force in this world, culminating in the glorious day to come "when peace shall over all the earth its ancient splendors fling." Truly captivating lyrics. This obscure song (to me) had become the clear choice.

As I began to conceive an arrangement, the melodic motion of an angelic choir began to bounce around in my head and I thought it a perfect match to ask my youth worship team singers (CCY Worship) to lend their voices to this choir. Ally, Alyson, Sophie, and Jayden did a marvelous job and really brought the song to life.

I hope this can be a nice addition to your Christmas season.
